A name of truly Biblical roots, ‘Johnson’ was introduced to the British Isles in the wake of the key historical event of the 1066 Norman Conquest.
• This was when the last Anglo-Saxon king of England was slain at the battle of Hastings and Normans such as the original Johnsons were later granted lands as reward for their military service to Duke William of Normandy.
• The colourful and prominent tale of the Johnsons is recounted here.
