With an early history entwined with that of Clan Sinclair, bearers of the Mason name may well have been privy to a secret tradition relating to the mysterious Rosslyn Chapel in Midlothian, featured in Dan Brown’s best-selling novel The Da Vinci Code and also in the film of the name.
• As stonemasons they helped to build magnificent structures that still grace the landscape to this day, while they were also to be found on the battlefield and, in later years, finding fame through a diverse range of other endeavours and pursuits.
• The colourful and prominent tale of the Masons is recounted here.
