Tracing a proud descent from a noble line of Welsh princes, bearers of the Pritchard name today are heirs to a rich and colourful heritage.
• While some were to be found with sword in hand battling waves of invading Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Normans, others have entered the historical record through more peaceful endeavours.
• Farnolls Pritchard was the English architect recognised as having designed the world’s first iron bridge – the famed Iron Bridge across the River Severn at Coalbrookdale, Shropshire, work on which was completed shortly before his death in 1777.
