Tracing a descent from Irish monks who became associated with a monastery at Dull, on the shores of Loch Tay, and at Dunkeld, the Robertsons of today are heirs to a truly rich and colourful heritage – tinged with a touch of the supernatural.
• The name was first adopted by Donnachaidh, or Duncan, who fought with his kinsfolk at the side of Robert the Bruce at the battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
• It was after pulling the clan standard from the ground before advancing on the enemy that they saw an eerie gleam of light reflected from the hole in the earth where the standard had been placed.
